Eagle
The Eagle called to me to be drawn many years ago. And he still has the power to still my thoughts, and encourage me to take another look from a little different perspective..
This 8x10 drawing is done in charcoal pencils.
-
Panther Anima
This image was drawn from a poster in the 80's. The poster featured a metallic woman, which didn't appeal to me as much as a natural look. She reminds me of someone I used to know a long time ago..
Panther Anima is an 8x10 drawing in charcoal pencil.

Moon Lodge
During the inception of my local Women's Moon Lodge last year, we pulled animal cards from a deck and these images represent the animal spirits of each of the eight women that are the founding sisters of San Jose Circle.
Drawn in pencil on 16"x20" paper, as a gift for one of our founders. -
Cougar
From Moon Lodge..
Cougar spirit was our founding sister's animal. And Cougar is for leadership and community.. How perfect!
I love you Cougar!
-
Elk
Elk is for a sister that has since moved across country, and the Elk spirit brought to the circle the fortitude to meet challenges head on, (and a change in environment).
I miss you Elk!
-
Turkey
Turkey was the giver of life, and our other founding sister's animal spirit.
She's really not a turkey, but embraced the nature of the animal just the same, as Turkey is sacred ceremony and creating!
-
Leopard
For helping with accessing our inner strength, and for rebirth and renewal, I brought in the Leopard spirit.
-
Crow
Crow spirit grounded our circle with emotional support, and vision.
And help with learning to understand the signs and symbols that come up in circle. -
Wolf
Wolf spirit came to assist us with communication, and belonging to community.
Thank goodness! Can't have a sharing circle of women that has difficulty expressing themselves now, could we?
-
Skunk
While we meditated with our animals, Skunk spirit helped to ease the pain of our beloved Joan .. And brought adventure and exploration to our circle.
-
Butterfly
And the sweet fleeting Butterfly brought the spirit of encouragement, support and transformation to our circle.
We couldn't have grounded our circle with better intentions if we tried!

john'sflight
This one goes back a few years.
Drawn in '88 for a dear friend's birthday.I've just recently learned that it will have a home in Spain's "Alhambra Castle" inspired American Institute of Mathematics in Morgan Hill, CA. when building is complete.
How's that for soaring with the eagles!

John's Flight close up
A closer look at the colored pencil work from John's Flight.
My photos simply can't capture the true nature of the work.
(Oh, Charles... Can you help? I'm certain that once he has applied his gift to the piece, the pictures will better reflect the light and detail) -
